BREWGOD: Lost Lager
This is BREWGOD: Lost Lager . A splashy colourful canvas for real independent beer lovers. Here Ben Cowan has created in pop-art style a piece of satire to intrigue your friends. The veneer of marketing in acrylic paint slides off to reveal a deception developing underneath.
James Watt, BREWDOG's marketing guru and founder, tried to repair reputational damage following a series of falsehoods relating to inauthentic branding and a 'toxic working culture' exposed by the BBC. With this new brief, their new marketing strategy was to promote the brewery as a 'carbon neutral company'. One way they said they planned to do this was to plant a forest in Scotland with proceeds from the sale of their Lost Lager beer. Only, according to the BBC, they didn't.
Marketing is the greatest story ever told. Guaranteed to make you buy shit you don’t need with money you don’t have. We all need beer. But we just don't like being lied to. :-)
