My Affordability Miseducation
My Affordability Miseducation draws on the current ‘cost of living’ crisis, which follows on from the slam dunk of the COVID pandemic lockdown economic hit and then the shocking Russian invasion of, and its subsequent war with, Ukraine. During a period of mismanagement of our national economy by the Tory government, we are now struggling to stand still as we try to make ends meet while being buffeted by the winds of high inflation, high interest rates and employee strikes.
In this satire, once again I am trying to balance some beauty with truth, and to help us to laugh rather than cry about our current situation while drawing on the wisdom of our literary classics, to illuminate what may be going on in this confusing world. Front-facing titles include, Austerity Island, The Fall of the House of Boris, The Pawn of the Rings, and a Never Ending Tory.
There are more than 40 parody book titles and authors. Please think of the piece as a positive capsule of our shared recent history to hang in ‘chuckle corner’ for your friends when they come to visit. You can chuckle at the titles as a way of speaking truth to power, and to process perhaps some difficult memories.
